The NLS were flowered for 9 weeks. They did not produce noticable trichomes, and were not very sticky during manicure. The buds were long and fluffy, and so the dried yeild was low/moderate at 2.4 oz for 2 female plants. The Skunks grown next to the NLS produced 3.7 oz.
Unfortunately, the smoke of the NLS was weak as expected. It's difficult to smoke enough to get a nice high, so I don't smoke the NLS. Consequently, I've been using the buds to make hash oil for cannabrownies, which have turned out nicely.
I would not grow this strain, it's not worth the effort or the space in your garden.
Soil grow using Miracle Grow Tomato 18-18-21 in vegging, and Shultz GardenSafe and Alaska MorBloom in flowering. 250 watt HPS light in a 5 square foot space.

Northern Lights Special was my first name-brand grow. I planted just two seeds, and one turned out male. Topped at the fourth node and started tying down branches to nails in the wall. Plant ended up about 2 feet high and 4 feet wide, taking up the entire closet. It really started stinking up the ho...continued

Very easy to grow and cheap, good for a beginners first grow, wasn?t too impressed with the taste but it gave me a giggle in the head high which was half decent I suppose. Grow along side a Big Bud Super Skunk, it yielded just the same as that so I go a reasonable harvest off it. It was grown under ...continued

Out of 10 seeds 1 germinated, and turned out a Sativa dominant female. I veged for 7 weeks. I found I had to feed this plant higher amounts of Nitrogen than other strains during the first few weeks of flowering. This strain is more suited for big light or outdoors.
As my first grow with decent genetics, I was very impressed with this strain. I know that KC Brains' seeds get a lot of flak on these boards - but these seeds all sprouted and popped out the soil (planted directly into soil) within 36hrs, but the last two to sprout got chucked.
