1 Image | Haven't got any pics except this one (three Nebs at the back, three Adventure Mixes in front) taken in 2002 under a 220-watts bank of CFLS. Here is the report from then...
26/7/2002: Of eight Nebulas from 10 seeds (all germed, two didn't pop), I have three Sativa dominant females. One is a bit of a runt, one is a gorgeous girl that's overtaken everything else and putting on lots of flowering weight, while the third is not far behind. These last two are quite uniform and very similar to the three males I have outside. They are both flowering quite heavily. I now have five out of eight very uniform plants. The fourth female is a mutant with weird, fused-together leaves that's growing quite healthily. I split the main stem when I dropped a light on her and she's stitched herself up nicely. Talk about an indestructable plant!
13/8/2002: Everything seems to be fine and the Nebula girls have a lovely sweet pineapple-lime aroma I'm very much looking forward to tasting. In fact, I snipped one small bud the other day which I'm currently slow-drying to test...
29/8/2002: Well, the girls have been flowering for about 30 days now. Half-way there and I'm more impressed with my Nebulas each day as they're already shining with crystaline trichomes! The more Sativa pheno is at the back in the middle - nice, healthy growth pattern - while the slightly more Indica girl at the rear right is a serious crystal producer!
Ah, the smoke report...
Well, I did end up smoking that tiny bud and all I can say is it got me fucking wasted!
Er, OK - I'll try to be a bit more scientific about it. Actually it was late at night, just before bed, which was a mistake because I thought I wasted a good buzz... Or did I? It took a while to come on - a bit of creeper - but about half-way through the joint I really started to feel it. Wavy (hovering), clean (hightened senses - especially sound) and then quite a rush with a little paranoia thrown in. The paranoia part is not unusual with strong Sativas - there's always a twinge of introspection there - but it never lasts long. After maybe five minutes, you just sit back and enjoy the ride... It keeps building over the next 10-15 minutes until you're really head-spaced out.
Well, for a small bud off a young plant it was quite a ride. I remember slipping in and out, not wanting to go to bed but knowing I had to because I was tired, then going to bed and just hovering there in a very pleasant state... and then before I knew it, it was morning. I just sort of suddenly snapped awake like it had worn off. I looked at the clock and three or four hours had passed, but I wasn't really sure if I had been asleep, dreaming or mildly tripping. I was probably sleeping
Yeah, it's strong enough.
Smoke Report #2
OK, we're at six weeks of flowering now, so I plucked a lower Nebula bud that looked nicely browned and cured it over three days. I have just sparked it up in a joint...
The first things I noticed while I was rolling were: the bud was a bit fluffy and airy, although obviously it was a small, less-developed flower. However, it has a lovely, sweet, pungent pineapple smell to it. It's also so sugary it's like pulling apart spun toffee. Actually, it almost tatstes like it. Mmmm.... pineapple.
Well, it took me half a joint to write that and I'm pretty baked already. Yes, it's a half-joint hitter. Things are starting to look a little visual now... expanding and contracting light. I'm hungry... Heh! Heh! I'll be back in a minute....
Yes, quite trippy. I like this weed. A nice cup of Ceylon tea with cream and honey is what it tastes like right now.
(One hour later...)
Well, as you can see I got bored of writing for a while and went and made something to eat. I've gotta fly to China in a few hours, so I'd better start packing...
Yeah, it's that sort of smoke: kind of forget what you're doing and eventually get back to it. Nice mellow plateau after the slight paranoia peak. It's not the strongest shit I've smoked, but it's getting up there. It certainly tastes sweet. And the best thing is, I still have half a joint...
(Another hour later...)
Ha! Ha! Last words... I'm still stoned! Yeah, it's quite chilled now, listening to some Cafe Del Mar and DJ Shadow. It expands in the lungs and mind...
Final Nebula verdict...
N6 (Nebula): This was the first girl to flower, the fastest to grow, forming eight evenly-sized colas on eight branches after fimming, and the sweetest, pineapple-punch smelling plant of the bunch. However, she was less crystally than the other two Nebs and, when it came to smoking, while she tasted sweet, she was not quite as peaky as the plant I'm about to describe. Also, although her colas were large and evenly spaced, they were a little airy. I guess that's to be expected from a Sativa-dominant scrogged plant. Nice growth characteristics, however, and would have been good to keep as a cross mother. She yielded over half an ounce of sweet smoke, a few hand-pollinated seeds, and has been quite a nice, relaxing, happy smoke.
N5 (Nebula): This girl provided all my early smoke reports and samples. As you've probably read, she got me SERIOUSLY STONED! Nice dense crystal formation, slightly more Indica than N6, smaller, tighter buds. Though not as fast or vigorous, she seemed to have the weight there. Had a slightly skunky air to the familiar pineapple Nebula smell: not quite as sweet but marginally stronger and a little more "chemical". She also produced half an ounce of nice sticky bud and about 30 seeds from three different males. I'll probably grow these out with the N6 seeds at a latter stage to see how they fair...
N8 (Nebula): The runt - still growing but will probably yield less than half an ounce when finished. Also very crystally like N5, but too small and slow to consider keeping. Also seemed susceptible to insect bites (thrips and gnats). Still, what she lacked in size and vigour she made up for in sweet Sativa smoke which, again, was quite similar to N5.
All up, I'd definitely grow Nebula again. They're not quite as uniform as described, but Nebula placed in a Cannabis Cup for Paradise Seeds, produces some seriously strong smoke, and has a nice, sweet, uplifting air about it. In fact, it can be a little too much at times... but it's a delight to grow, scratch, sniff 'n smoke.
Garden Information for this report Small, 6'x 2' cupboard, SCROG-type grow under 220 watts of compact fluoros. Three Nebulas sharing with three Adventure Mixes, vegged for three weeks and flowered under 12/12 for eight weeks. The Nebulas yeilded about 1.5oz and the Adventure Mixes 2+oz. It was my first indoor grow. |
