Breeder's Description - 'Sweet Purple' | | A very strong, rather tall plant with hues of purple and pink, that tastes like strawberries. She grows good indoors, and is also perfectly adapted to colder regions such as Holland for outdoor growing. Her early flowering means you can harvest fat colas before the "bad" weather starts.

Sweet Purple is a three-way cross and actually quite varied and not a stable or uniform strain at all (which I guess is why it's so cheap). It's not particularly potent and doesn't yield a lot. Average on both counts but it has the sweetest, most refreshing strawberry taste you are ever likely to encounter! Think of biting into a fresh strawberry and that's what it's like.
Of 10 seeds, all germed but only four came up. (I've learned a few lessons about root rot and soil mold since then). Of these four, all were different. One was a tall sativa male, one was a short and shrubby indica male, another was a very sweet sativa dominant (strawberry skunk) female, while the last one was a strong, mostly indica female. Here are my reports for the two girls...
Growth/Yield
Both plants were very average growers and yielders, although they did pick up after the fourth week of flowering and put on most of their weight in the last two weeks. They were both very healthy and didn't seem to mind a good dose of nutes (although this made little difference to the yield). Of the two phenos, the strawberry skunk went for eight weeks and yielded slightly higher than the indica, which was finished just after its seventh week. All told, less yield than most indicas and/or skunk varieties.
Buds/Crystal
The indica had very round, golf-ball-shaped buds that grew out in all directions and were covered in crystals. The strawberry skunk, meanwhile, had tell-tale foxtail-shaped buds that stretched towards the light. It didn't seem to be as densely covered in trichomes.
Smell/Taste
As mentioned, the strawberry skunk had the most amazing, sweet (& ever-so-slightly skunky) scent that is just like a punnet of fresh-picked strawberries! It was delicious! And it tasted exactly the way it smelled! It's going to be awesome once it's cured: like pink musk sticks. Smoking it is like drinking a strawberry daiquiri with a sprig of mint! Cool, clean and sweet with a syrupy aftertaste
The purple indica, meanwhile, was still sweet but alot more acrid. It had quite a strong, sour-chemical scent that was more spicy than its sister and more grape than strawberry. It tasted a little peppery, but seemed to be getting sweeter with the cure. If the strawberry skunk is a shiraz, this one's a heavier, spicy, grape-like cabernet.
High
Both varieties are strong, but as you would expect, each leans towards its respective phenotype. The strawberry skunk is (in my opinion) the pick of the two. It has a very clean, happy sativa high that is subtle at first, and after two cones you can hardly feel it, but then it starts to creep up on you until finally you realise you are very "clearly" stoned. It's the type of sensory-enhancing, hovering high that slips in and out so that at times you're not even quite sure you're stoned until another wave suddenly crashes over you with a big, wry grin across your face as you pick up on the groove. Great for late evenings out, socialising or retiring home with the wife/girlfriend for some serious fun! Get's you "up" in every sense of the word...
Having said that, some of my other friends prefer the purple indica for its more "profound" thought process and spicy bite. This one (in my opinion) isn't as strong, but is still fairly serious smoke. It comes on straight away and you know you are stoned at all times. Not as subtle as her sister, she doesn't put you on your arse straight away but you know eventually that's where you'll be headed: either to the fridge or in front of the TV. Relaxing, but thought-provoking at the same time
After a three-month cure, here are my second observations...
Sweet Purple (indica pheno): Nice, very spicy berry-flavoured bud that has cured well with purple hues. The smoke is heavier than anything else and has a unique lime-berry flavour that's hard to describe. This is definately a bed-time smoke as although it isn't knock-out gear like some, it sinks straight into your bones as you drift away. Like all Paradise Seeds varieties it is very sweet, respectably potent and covered in trichomes. It is my personal favourite for relaxing. No pretension or creeper and just gets you stoned from the first toke. Nice, sweet smoke and surprisingly stronger than I first thought it would be.
Sweet Purple (sativa pheno): I was hoping this one would be a bit more potent, but it still smells and tastes COMPLETELY of strawberries and is the sweetest bud I have ever smoked with a clean, refreshing minty aftertaste. However, it also has a very high leaf-calyx ratio, making it leafy and a little harsher to smoke than it should be at time. Still tastes great and has a good sativa high with a little more body to it. The strawberry smell and taste is AMAZING! The buds are a bit light and airy, though, so this strain needs a bit more work. Goes better in joints than bongs because of its leafy nature. Not overly smelly and you have to touch it to really bring the scent out but just a really nice plant to show off to friends who can't believe pot would ever smell like this. The high doesn't last as long as the others. Still, at $20 a pack the Sweet Purple is a good deal.
Garden Information for this report Small 2' x 3' cupboard grow under a 250HPS. Seven plants packed into five-six square feet. Two Sweet Purples vegged for three weeks and flowered for seven-eight weeks yielded just over an ounce between them. |

I germinated 2 seeds in a wet paper towel that was in a tupperware container on top of my DSL modem.
Within 36 hours they were both planted in 6 inch pots using miracle grow. I only have one grow room and decided to throw some more in there with the big ones that were soon going to flower.

I ordered some Sensi Star so I figured I'd pick up some Sweet Purple too since it was only $20 and was supposed to have nice colors and taste/smell like strawberries.
