Aaaahhh, my first seedbank grow... I received my seeds through Heavens Stairway, standard m/f seeds. Germination was easy using the paper towel method. All 5 seeds germed, tho 2 seedlings snapped in the wind when I was doing work in the grow room. 3 Seedlings were put into 6" pots using Sunshine #1 basic mix, just peat moss and perlite. No other additives! Plants were put under a 160w HPS and fed 1/2 strength Millenia Seabird guano after 2 weeks of straight water. Growth was pretty vigorous, 1 of the plants really took off vertically, and I thought I had a definite male on my hands. The other 2 plants looked almost identical, much better branched and short, Indica nodal length. Looked like I had maybe 2 f and 1 male. Boy was I wrong!
Plants took off well about week 4-5 of vegging, and showed sex under 18/6 at week 5. Plants were transplanted to 2 gallon pots at almost week 3, and then to 3 gallon pots at week 5. Full dose of nutes followed the more rapid veg growth. The 2 shorter specimens turned out to be males, and the tall one was a female! Sometimes you can't judge a book by its cover!
As it turns out, I got a more Durban growth pattern from my pheno, and a definite Durban flavor as well! Potency was not heavily influenced by the Durban tho, and the high was much more couchlock like, tho "up" at first. A nice balance of ying and yang. I don't like licorice too much myself, but it tastes a lot better in marijuana!
Very little branching on this plant, nice chunky nugs as advertised, and a slightly better than average yield I would say. Almost 2 ozs from this one plant for a semi newbie... Not bad! Good resin content, decent hash yielder, combined with good potency and almost no smell at all in flowering. Great for a stealth grow!
Subsequent grows of this strain produced no more single cola mommas, just the standard looking Indica types, nice, but not as unique as the single cola specimen, not as tasty in my opinion.
Garden Information for this report NL#9 was grown in a separate room not finished off, no white walls or reflective materials. 1 lone small oscillating fan, with actually very little ventilation save me going in and out of the room. Room was 4 x 5, and plants were flowered under a 400w HPS. Sunshine mix #1 was used as the medium, Millenia seabird guano at 10-5-2 in veg, and a 3-10-1 Bat guano in flowering. Room temps were averaging 84 for a high, and around the low 70s for a low at night. Nutes were made tea style, and hand watered. Plant went 61 days in flowering. |
