I grew a plant from F2 seeds. The result was a very nice, short bushy plant. So I took a clone off that plant and vegged it for a few days then put into flowering. Within 2 weeks of flowering I was beginning to see crystals. The plant didn't stretch much at all, just got fat. Gave it Miracle Gro for flowering, maybe once or twice in flowering. Was grown under a 400 watt HPS. Yield could have been better provided it was vegged longer. During flowering there was a timer problem and lights weren't on for 3 days. The LUI did not hermie at all while some other plants I had in there did. Took the plant down at around 50-53 days flowering (don't remember exact date). Yielded a nice big main cola. I could see this as a great sog plant. Could produce really resinous, heavy, dense colas.
Smoke: LUI is a very interesting smoke. Has the fruity taste but it's almost minty. The high is a very good one. After a couple hits you will be good for a while but don't plan on doing anything besides sitting on the couch watching tv. It is easy to smoke too much of this weed and be dizzy and what not. High lasts for around 1-3 hours and I smoke what I would say a lot (not sure how much in a day but I usually smoke a bowl every 1-3 hours).
So all I really have to say about this plant is it was easy to grow. It didn't require any work really besides watering it and watching it explode with bud growth. I would recommend LUI to anyone looking for a nice indica high, especially if you have had SWT because it is a SWT hybrid, but the Ortega just adds a nice little punch to the high that you are kind of missing in the SWT3 and the buds are just as dense if not denser.

Definately a good strain. I started with 5 LUI seeds, 4/5 germ, 2/4 were female. One turned out to be the branchy ortega pheno and the other the columnar sweettooth pheno. She was fed GH nutes while following the Lucas Formula. Easy to clone. Vegged her for 2 weeks under an 18/6 lighting schedule. She was then tripped into a 12/12 cycle where she flowered for a full 60 days. Total dried weight from the one plant was 2.5 ounces.

I bought a pack of LUI beans from seedsdirect in 2003... they were siiting in my fridge for 2 years before I germed them!!
9 out of 10 seeds popped. With 3 dying due to general seed-newbiness. Another was killed when not watered! So I was left with 5 seeds; out of which I luckily got 4 females an ...continued
