| Whilst in Amsterdam I stopped by “HomeGrown Fantaseeds” ….. Great smoke available there in their café, and also their seed shop around the corner from which I bought a pack of their MANGO strain.
“Mango” is said to be a Stabilized Hybrid (100% Indica crossbreed x H#1 KC33 x Afghani), a 55-60 day mature. I really liked the look of this strain. I hadn’t, as of yet, grown a pure Indica cross. Also this is said to be HomeGrown’s fruitiest strain available and was priced very reasonably for what I’m expecting from the plant.
They have fantastic form, its definitely living up to the beautiful plant hype I read about in the Strain Guide. I LOVE this plant. Pinkie hues on stems and stalks with Downey white hairs. Gorgeous fruity smell under the lamps is a great welcome to the grow room even before flowering.
Whilst in the vegetation cycle this strain grew hard and fast. The growth was dark green and very healthy, with a subtle fruity aroma. It also responded well to the regular nutrient dose I gave to them with every watering.
The first phono was trained for a SOG grow, as the heavy indica characteristics were just screaming out for a 6 branch equal height technique. I was expecting 6 tight colas from this plant, and that’s exactly what I got. The second pheno had its 4 lower branches tied down low to the rim of the container and its top was left in tacked to see the effect of the single cola with lower side branches.
The other report for Mango in the strain guide gave a really bad overview of this strain and I’ve got to say I totally disagree with him. I’ve found this plant and its breeder to give a quality strain with great potential for crossing with another strain, and it also stands well alone.
The plants are the most beautiful I’ve ever grown, there superb. The amount of trichome cover was amazing. The entire plant was covered in sparkle within a few weeks of subjecting the plants to a 12/12 light cycle. By the end of flowering the trichome concentrations were the best I’ve ever seen. Even the large fan leaves were covered in trichomes half way up and on both sides of the leaf. A great plant for fruity hash making. And the aroma as the plant developed became more and more sweet and fruity as time past.
As for the smoke …. Hmmmmmm sweeeeeeeet. Grinding up the dense bud produces a thick and potent smell of that sharp fruit trait. With a moist texture it’s great to roll with. Lighting up with this gear for the first time was an experience to say the least. Very smooth smoke, one of the easiest to toke that I’ve come across in a long time. It tastes exactly like it smells, sharp on the pallet and lung expanding on the inhale. Breathing out gives a mouthful of spice and fruit, this lingers on the tongue for a nice aftertaste. As for the high, wow, it’s really something. It hits within a few minutes from sparking the joint giving an instant full body tingle. Feels like an intense adrenalin buzz. Then comes the head hit. That’s what knocks you off your feet and sends you into a head high buzz. Its very strong, im writing this whilst commenting on the smoke effect and im having real trouble finishing this report. A top class smoke and a fine high very well balanced between body and mind. Excellent to meditate to and for sleeping, definitely an evening smoke.
Mango is unquestionably a keeper in my opinion.
Peace
And now. ...after a 10month cure and maturation period the smoke is AMAZING. I been away for 6 months and have had the chance to leave it be. The smoke is think sweet and super smooth. Whilst the smoke hits your lungs and raises that inner vibration the sticky mango favour swirls around your palet. Ummm, its a good feeling. .. time really does heal. This sample is superb.
